Crossbow (this one is actually real)

I know I have a past of posting about the "crossbow". I made a lame April fools day post about how I smashed one with a hammer and I made my own "crossbow". However, this time I actually have a crossbow.

I saw it go up for a good price so I decided to get it. I have wanted a crossbow ever since I started modding a little over a year ago. I didn't want one because of its rarity, but I have always liked the way it looks. I like how the stock is built into the shell, the nice foregrip, and the hole that lets you see the plunger tube. I could go on all day about how awesome it looks.

Even though the crossbow is super awesome, it has its flaws. When I say flaws, I mean one flaw. That flaw would be the handle. The handle is too square and sometimes it starts making your hand hurt if you use it for a while. This is by no means the worst handle but it isn't the best. I don't intent on keeping this crossbow stock either. I bought it with the plans to mod it and give it a cool paintjob. When I am done with modding it, it will probably be my new favorite blaster. Hopefully I will get to modding it soon!

Update: Now that life isn't so busy and stressful I will be able to work on stuff again. This includes my crossbow and other mods and homemades. I will also be putting some homemades up for sale! I plan on making a rainbowpump (I can't decide which design) and another bullpup. If I really like the rainbowpump, I will sell my double rainbow instead. I am also officially opening up commissions. I will be making another post about commissions soon, but if you want anything just email me.

Boring Update (Sorry, I had to make it)

Well, this is a normal boring update. I just want to tell everyone that you probably won't be seeing any new mods or homemades until sometime in January. Hopefully I will be getting some new tools by then and some new blasters. I'm taking this break because I have midterms coming up next week and then the holidays. I am going to be super busy so I won't even be working on anything for a while.

You can still expect to see some posts coming up though. I have a different kind of post planned for later this week and I will hopefully be making a pre-war post about my load out and stuff. Sorry about this boring post, but I felt like it needed to be done. I like to keep my (few) readers updated.

Pump-action rainbow

Here is my pump-action rainbow blaster. It was based off of Zorn's FAL-2 and Erfnay's ART.

New Video

This is just a video that I made for my new homemade. It is my first overview video so I'm not that good at it yet. Also, I say actually a lot. It also sounds like I say "This hat is using a full K26 spring". I don't know what I was trying to say, but I am just warning you about that error.

Reverse-inverse Bullpup

IT IS THE FLY NERF 1 YEAR ANNIVERSARY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A year ago I started this blog and I had no idea that I would be making homemades of my own design. Heck, a year ago I was modifying Mavericks!

Onto the blaster, bullpups have always interested me, but I don't like the way that some of them work. They usually require a weird plunger rod setup and stuff like that. However, I was very interested when Makeitgo made his Reverse-Inverse (I'm keeping my blog clean and not saying the name) bullpup blaster. The problem was that I didn't have enough skill to build something like that when I first saw it. Over the past couple months, I read the writeup multiple times and looked over andtheherois's PVC version. I developed a strong grasp on the mechanism it used and I realized that their blasters were overly complicated.

I used the Paint program on my computer to plan out a blaster and I eventually made  a design. This is how it turned out:

Name a Price!

I am in the need of some money, so you can ignore the prices on the sales page. Just name a price for anything on the sales page and I will tell you if it is ok. I might be putting some more stuff on the page too in order to get more money. I also have a bunch of random springs, so if you need a specific spring, ask me and I might have it. Remember that you are helping to fund new projects by buying things on the sales page!

HDPE Rainbow Catch

I've had a ton of school work recently, but I had some spare time and I made this rainbow catch.

It is made of a HDPE cutting board that my family was done using. This catch was made as an experiment more than for anything useful. I honestly didn't think that HDPE would be able to make a stable catch, but it has proved me wrong. I tested the catch with my RB catch tester and it was very strong. I haven't used it in a blaster yet even though I expect it to work very well with a K26.

The whole catch was cut with a scroll saw other that the circular hole which was cut with a drill. I was very surprised that this material was harder to cut than polycarbonate because it is a much softer plastic. When I say it is harder to cut, I just mean it takes longer to cut. Don't let that discourage you from trying to use this material as a catch because it is much cheaper and more accessible than polycarbonate. However, if you make a catch out of this and it breaks in a blaster, don't blame me. I plan on using this catch as soon as I can and I will make a post about how it holds up. Leave your opinions on this catch in the comments!

Air Max 1 Mod Guide

It's seems that some people are having trouble modifying their new Air Max 1's. Here is a mod guide that will make your AM1 (as I will now call it) super awesome.

Extreme Air Max 1 Review

The Buzz Bee Panther was an extremely popular blaster in the NIC and it still is. The problem is that most stores never carried them. There is an even bigger problem now because the Panther seems to be discontinued. I couldn't find the Panther at Walmart, Target, or even ToysRUs. All of them are the Air Max one. I'm not saying that you still can't find a Panther at one of those stores, but Buzz Bee is moving towards the Air Max one.

What should I do?

Since school has started, I obviously can't make as many projects. I don't want to make shameless filler posts like this, so what should I do? I could do speculations, reviews, news, or anything else that you can think of. I could also post my ideas, concepts, and even make tutorials for how I do things. I can do anything involving Nerf or foam dart blasters that you can think of. I really want to make you readers happy and that is why I am asking you. Like I have said a million times, I do have projects coming up, they will just take a while. Please leave your thoughts in the comments about what I should do.

Nitefinder

I want to start off by saying that i'm sorry I haven't posted for a while. I just started school and I don't have as much time to work on blasters (and I ran out of money over the summer). The amount of posts will slow down, but I will try to find a way to make up for that. Anyways, here is my Super Nitefinder!

Stained Handles

100th post! This post isn't very special for the 100th post, but I stained the handles of my +bow and Rainbow Pistol. I think the stain makes them look completed.

I also rounded the handle on my +bow a little bit more so it is supa-comfy.

These are probably the two main blasters that I would use at a war and they look very nice. Hopefully I can get one more project in before the summer ends.

2-11

Today I have a 2-11. The 2-11 is known as the successor to the +bow, but it is not nearly as popular. You may wonder why it isn't as popular as the +bow especially because it is less expensive to make. Throughout this post, I will tell you some reasons why it isn't as popular.

Longstrike-3K

The Longstrike is a blaster that doesn't deserve it's own shell. The shell makes it look like a sniper rifle even though it is the opposite of that. How can you "snipe" someone with ranges of 20' flat? You can't. I wanted my Longstrike to live up to it's full potential.

Rainbow PAC

Here is my Rainbow PAC. Just incase you don't know, PAC stands for Pump Action Crossbow. I originally didn't plan to make this blaster, but I have been waiting for my 2-11 parts to ship and iMod made a snap version. I figured that this would be a quick and fun project considering I had most of the parts.

PVC Pump

Sorry for no original content recently, I ran out of materials and I just ordered more to make stuff. Though I have already posted one video made by this guy, I think it is necessary to post this one.

I have found that there hasn't been much success in the NIC when it comes to making homemade pumps. Most modders have PVC around so I figured this design is perfect to apply to air blasters. There are other pump tutorials out there on Youtube, but this is by far the best and most reliable looking one. I really want to see someone try this on a blaster to see if it works.

+Bow!

I finished this about three days ago and I kept forgetting to post it. This is obviously my +bow.

There are going to be a lot of pictures and words, so I am breaking the page.

No more blaster commissions :(

Here's a quick boring post to tell you that I will no longer be accepting blaster commissions. That means no homemades or modifying stock blasters. This was not my personal choice to not accept blaster commissions anymore, I just can't. However, I can still do other things. I can do custom handles, rainbow handles with a trigger and other things. Commissions are still open, there just isn't as much stuff. I would still love for people to commission me!

PVC Check Valve

Here's a video that I found on youtube that shows you how to make a check valve out of PVC parts. Even though it is kind of bulky, it could be very useful for pumps without check valves or if your check valve breaks. I highly recommend taking a look at this video.

Five Polycarbonate Nitefinder Catches

Sorry I haven't posted lately; I haven't had anything to post. Anyways, I made five polycarbonate Nitefinder catches for charlie.156 on Nerf Revolution. They don't look super clean, but a catch doesn't need to look good. They are made of 1/4" polycarbonate and I had to dremel the sides of each one in order to make them fit in the blaster itself.

Polycarbonate Nitefinder catches are great when you are using a very strong spring in your blaster. They are especially useful when making a Nitefinder Rifle because your catch wont break. I charger $2 each for these and you can find more information on the commissions page.

Rainbow

My brother has always wanted a primary to use, but he just can't prime a K26 to full compression. Even if I were to make a snap with a shorter K26, he would still have trouble with it. That is why I decided to make a rainbow. With a rainbow, I can put the catch notch anywhere that I want so I can use a K26 without making it have full (or near) compression.

iModify's Rainbow Catch

Here's the rainbow catch that I made for iMod. There isn't really much to say other than the fact that it's a a rainbow catch.

It's a lot cleaner than my first rainbow catch which means i'm getting better.

I use this setup to test rainbow catches It is just a small piece of 1.25" PVC and delrin rod and it's pretty nice because I don't have to screw in the rainbow catch to test it. I hope you're happy with the catch, iMod.

The One Day Pumpsnap

Behold, the one day pumpsnap. That's right. I built it in one day, well less than a day but that doesn't matter. I think you could have figured that out yourself though considering what it looks like. Before I go into a long and boring story like I usually do, I will just talk about the basics. It is a pumpsnap 3.0 with a K26 spring in it. I wasn't originally going to post this because of the looks but I really wanted to prove that I actually made one.

There is no doubt that this is the ugliest pumpsnap ever built. Just look at those slots that I didn't even try to make clean, look at those sharpie marks all over the body. Look at that horrible 2" PVC pump slide. That pump slide is made with 2" PVC because I didn't feel like buying expensive 1.5" thinwall for a one day project. I word of advice: don't cut 2" PVC with a scroll saw. The arm on the saw bumps the PVC and because the pipe is too big, one of my scroll saw blades melted into it. I just couldn't cut the pipe steadily. There's my excuse for the slide. The sharpie marks are there because I don't want to clean the body of a one day pumpsnap. The slots, well to be honest, I didn't really try on them. I could make them look nicer but I don't see the point in that. The handle looks weird but it is surprisingly confortable.
Even though it is incredibly bad looking, it performs very well. I don't have official ranges but with a hopper and slugs it gets the same ranges as my snapbow. The seal isn't 100% but it is still very good and it catches very well.

I really made this pumpsnap just to prove that I can. If you ever commission me for one, I would actually take my time on it and make it look amazing. The slide would be thinwall PVC and the slots would be a lot nicer. There's my pumpsnap!

Hmmmm...

I have one more post for today. I was looking at acnerfshop's sale and I saw this picture:

That Stampede looks pretty familiar... the pump placement, shell, tank, and hopper idea are all very familiar *cough* here's the link *cough*

First Rainbow Catch

Hi guys, there isn't very much to say about this rainbow catch other than it is the first one that I have made. You could probably have known that it is my first one anyway because of the cuts.

I tested this with a small plunger rod and piece of PVC so it definitely works even though it looks bad. I'm going to break the page because there are three more pictures.

RECON INTEMAGRATION

This is a mod I did with a hornet shell that was broken and a recon I had laying around. This is Aukman by the way and I actually did all the work this time. this is an updated mod on an old post I found on the interwebz. Old Post on Nerf Mods & Reviews. I chose to single it.

Rainbow Pistol

I have finally made a Rainbow Pistol! I have been wanting to make one of these for a while but I just haven't had the tools to make it. I got enough money to buy a scroll saw and polycarbonate so this was the first thing that I tried out. I am very happy that I got some practice on the scroll saw before I make more of these and a +bow because my first cuts with the saw were very very bad. Now onto the pistol.

The Mega Centurion

Let's start off with the good news. I'm back and I have some awesome things planned. On to the bad news: The Mega Centurion internals were posted by Langley and I am very disappointed. It ends up that the hype around this blaster (for the modders) probably wasn't worth it because of the fact that it has a reverse plunger. Yay!(sarcasm) I thought the elite line got rid of reverse plungers but apparently not.

There's a picture of it compared to the Longshot plunger tube taken by Langley. This was supposed to be the elite Longshot with a huge plunger tube. It turns out that it is more like a bigger Longstike with a plunger tube that has holes in it.

This Centurion even looks awesome like the Longstrike. Now, I am not going to completely bash this blaster. It is an awesome blaster for stock fans of Nerf and they will finally get their "sniper rifle". There is no denying that this is a really cool thing. I might buy it because it shoots the farthest of any stock Nerf blaster but it IS really expensive and modding the PT would be extremely difficult.

I actually have a weird theory that the prototype Centurions might have had direct plungers and non-hole-filled plunger tubes but they were too dangerous for little kids to use. Anyways, this will not compete with homemades (unless sealing the PT holes makes it) but it will be a cool blaster for stock fans.= who don't know about internals.

What do you think of the Centurion? Will you buy it?

PETG Breech Tutorial

PVC and CPVC breeches can be hard to make because of sanding, the seal, and just making it work. They take a long time to make because of that sanding too. Here is a tutorial for a simple breech using PETG and PVC. My breech was rushed because I didn't have much time to make it but yours can be much nicer than mine.

AT2K Overhaul

Well, I guess I did get around to my AT2K overhaul. When I got this in the mail, the pump was acting weird so I opened it up. Let's just say, that is where fun started.

Mega Centurion Announced

Well, it looks like Nerf has finally announced the Mega Centurion. I got this picture on Facebook and I thought it would be cool to show that Nerf announced it.

Saturday, May 25, 2013

Hey, another boring update!

I know most people aren't going to read this and I completely understand why. I just feel the need to get this information out there. In the next 3-4 weeks, you guys probably wont be seeing any big projects coming from me. Don't hold me to it but that is probably what is going to happen. I have to study for finals, take finals, and do other end of school/beginning of summer stuff.  I bought these air techs recently so they are probably a possible project that might happen during the next few weeks.

Well, hopefully you didn't fall asleep from reading this post, just incase you did here is something to make up for it.

Restored Laser Fang

This was a fairly old project but I decided to bring it up now because I finally got my hands on some mega darts. This is my restored Laser Fang!

When I say restored, I mean the internals were broken and I had to fix them. It isn't restored to its stock form because I didn't get the wings for it and the electronics were completely broken. Other than that, this thing works great. I had to glue some stuff together and redo the seal but it wasn't hard at all. I got this in a $9 package on eBay which also included my BBBB tank used in my Stamblast and a ton of other things that I haven't used yet.

I really like the Laser Fang and in its stock firing form it works very well. I would say that it hits 30' with a mega dart. In its current state it isn't worth much but it sure is a fun blaster to have.

The Frankenstein

Here is my latest project named The Frankenstein. I think you can figure out why it is named the Frankenstein if you look at the picture.

Slug Darts

School is stil keeping me really busy, so here is yet another filler post. These are my 1.25" slug darts.

I only made about 100 because I wanted to make sure that I like them. I definitely do like these and I will be making the rest of my slugs exactly like this. Sorry about how dark the picture turned out but here is a close up. They use green felt tips from McMaster, #6 washers, and beige foam from best materials. I highly recommend using these three materials because they are very nice and fairly cheap. Using the felt pads from McMaster also lets you make slugs very quickly. Not only that but the beige foam doesn't melt even if you use a high temp glue gun.  The beige foam also has a push fit in cpvc and a great fit in petg.
Here is a picture comparing an old slug with a new one. For the old one I used Frost King; a foam which has terrible fit in everything and melts with high temp hot glue. I also used #8 washers and craft foam.
My final word of advice is to spend some extra money on your darts and it will pay off.

Pistol Splat and Raider Shotgun paint

Oh school... taking up my life. I'm not able to do many mods right now because of school but here are two that I have had around for a while. first up, is my Supa Splat (also known as a pistol splat). Before I talk about the mod, I want to talk about this model of blaster because it confused me. (Skip over this grey text if you already know about this). The basic shell and priming mechanism of this blaster are very popular among companies and the NIC. Many different companies have taken the shell and internals and made their own versions of it. There are many different colors and different things that it shoots. Companies have made it shoot chalk darts, paintballs, and darts. These different blasters also have varying spring strengths. My specific one is the second strongest spring. Even if you see one of these in a store and it is a different color, just buy it. These things are awesome!
Modifications:
- Shell minimization
- Useless internals removed
- Epoxied cpvc coupler.
Yeah, I didn't do many more mods to this just because I didn't have to. This blaster is amazing with only a cpvc coupler. I am using a barrel that is about 2 inches too long and it is still beating my Nitefinder! GET THIS BLASTER IF YOU SEE IT.

Next up, is the painted raider shotgun grip. All that I did was paint the grip silver because, who want a yellow shotgun grip?

I hope you liked these mods! Tell me what you think about pistol splats in the comments!

Draw My Stryfe

I decided to make this because of the recent "Draw My Life" Youtube trend. It is called Draw My Stryfe and it is about how I got into Nerf. It was made as a parody and I just threw it together. It isn't meant to be perfect. Please, watch the video and behold my epic drawing and voiceover skills.
I hope you liked it. Please leave your opinions in the comments.

Stamblast With Paint Job

Here it is, the Stamblast with a paint job. Some of you may not know that it is officially named the Stamblast, but that is what Aukman and I decided to name it.

This amazing paint job was actually done by Aukman (I have no painting skills). I think that it turned out very well and it completes the blaster. This is definitely one of my primaries.

Elite Alpha Trooper Review + Photos

Hi Guys, I managed to get my hands on a Nerf Nstrike Elite Alpha Trooper. They are selling them at Argos.uk for around $20 U.S. dollars which I think is 15 euros. Anyways, it is getting the ranges I expected which is around 65-75 feet depending on the dart. What I like about it is how smooth the prime is. When I opened it up it has internals that are very similar to the retaliator, just like Mylastdart said this thing has some modding potential.

CROSSBOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi guys, I GOT A CROSSBOW!!!!!!!!!! I am so excited for what I am going to do to it too. I took a trip to Goodwill today and there were actually two crossbows in stock form!!! They were each $20 but who cares. I decided that I would smash one with a hammer for the heck of it and that was super fun. I still have one crossbow so that it why I did it.

Snapbow 2

Hi guys, today I have another snapbow. I decided to make myself a snapbow because I am going to refurbish and sell my other one to someone. This time, I decided to try to build it a bit differently and the pictures show how it worked out.

This time, I added a different handle and attached it differently. I also used a dowel rod for the stock and a cpvc tee to pull back on. This blaster is not finished yet though. It needs many more coats of paint on the red and black on the tee and barrel. The barrel may be wrapped in electrical tape though and the wood handle will also be stained.

Overall, I really like this snapbow and everything new that I tried on it. Also, decided to post this as an unfinished project because I will not be able to work on nerf for a week or so. Please leave your thoughts in the comments.
